Everyday Laundry Choices
Small habits can help you use only what each load needs. Follow the garment, washer, and detergent instructions for the items you are washing.
Load
Right-Size It
Use a full load when practical, while leaving room for items to move as your washer manual directs.
Care
Check the Label
Choose wash and dry settings that match each garment's care instructions.
Dose
Measure Detergent
Follow the detergent label for load size and soil instead of adding extra by guesswork.
Reuse
Bring a Laundry Bag
Bring a reusable bag for finished laundry if it works for your routine.
Make Each Load Count
ENERGY STAR recommends running full washer loads when practical; follow your washer's load guidance and avoid overfilling it. The FTC explains clothing care labels, which help you choose appropriate care for each garment.
